Q: I reviewed the posted document and in an ideal world they all appear to be worthwhile projects. However, $12 million dollars is a lot of money to borrow, even if there will not be an increase in taxes. Could you provide the average homeowner decrease in taxes if the referendum is not passed?
A: $34 PER YEAR FOR THE AVERAGE HOME. THAT IS $2.83 A MONTH OR $0.65 A WEEK.
Q: Could you provide cost estimates for each project?
A: THERE IS A LINK TO A SPREADSHEET ON THE REFERENDUM SITE WITH ALL THE COSTS www.rtnj.org/randolphreferendum2011
Q: What are the projected cost savings for each project?
A: WE HAVE NOT CALCULATED COST SAVINGS FOR EACH PROJECT AS THE SAVINGS WILL VARY BASED ON THE CURRENT MARKET. HOWEVER, ON THE DISTRICT WEB SITE THERE IS A LINK TO THE ENERGY AUDIT WHICH INCLUDES ESTIMATED USAGE SAVINGS FOR THE ENERGY PROJECTS.
Q: Which projects do you consider critical? Nice to have?
A: ALL THE PROJECTS ARE PRIORITIES. HOWEVER, WE IDENTIFIED ANY PROJECT THAT WILL REDUCE COSTS IN THE DISTRICT THROUGH ENERGY SAVINGS AS THE FIRST PRIORITY. THOSE WERE FUNDED THROUGH GRANTS WHENEVER POSSIBLE AND THE BALANCE ARE INCLUDED IN THE REFERENDUM. THESE PROJECTS MAKE UP APPROXIMATELY $9.0M OF THE $11.6M REFERENDUM, OR 70 PERCENT. THE BALANCE OF THE LIST ARE PROJECTS THAT ARE EITHER CRITICAL BECAUSE OF DETERIORATION OR DUE TO ACCESSIBILITY ISSUES.
